Ok.. our first time there! I took first place with ALL FOUR dogs I took!!! WOOHOOO! :) can't you tell my head is a little big again? (Lonestar in Houston). Anyway, I took first place with Jasmine (mini schnauzer) in Terriers, with Diego (giant schnauzer) in All Other Breeds, with Taffy (brown/white parti standard poodle) in Poodles and with Rio (phantom mini poodle) in Mixed/Misc. I then went on to receive Best Overall Groomer and then won Best Groomed Dog with Taffy!!!! I couldn't be more proud I don't think :). Now, I'm worried though cause I think that booted me right out of Intermediate into the Open Division... yikes! We'll be heading to the All American Grooming Show in Chicago, IL in August... see you there! (professional pics coming)
GroomerPalooza (November 2004)
This show is held in San Antonio, TX. There are no competitions really, only education and boy did I learn. Loved it and will definitely go back. I did however, win the Grand Prize drawing of about $2000.00 worth of grooming equipment! So I was VERY happy.
Lonestar Groomers Conference (April/May 2005)
This conference/competition is held in Houston, TX and was my first competition. I took two dogs, Curtis, a clients Miniature Schnauzer for the terrier class and Action, my yorkie for the potpourri class. Well, I placed first in both classes and then went on to win Best Overall Groomer (entry level) and Best In Show (entry level) with Actions groom.
Pet Pro Classic (October 2005)
This event is held in Dallas, TX. I used one of my standard poodles in the Clippers Only competition and got third place. I placed 3rd in the Terrier Class (Intermediate) and also in the Potpourri Class (Intermediate). We didn't place with the creative where I made Tapanga into a U.S. Flag but boy was that fun.
Atlanta again. I definitely didn't do as well this year, but I learned alot. I placed 1st in the Scarlets Challenge with Gizmo (wonderful clients toy poodle). It was a combined effort between myself and Christina, thanks Christina. I would also like to thank Gloria Ogdahl from NC for letting me borrow her wonderful standard poodle, Levi. See you next year!
GroomerPalooza (Oct 2006)
I was a little dissappointed that most of the speakers/information were the same as when I went in 2004. Maybe the year I skipped they were different? Had fun anyway. Marea Tully with Andis clipped Diego as a demo of their lighted clippers.
Atlanta again. I'm getting SO close to better placement. Diego and I won 2nd place in the Terrier Class which is huge since there were about 8 or 9 dogs in Intermediate. We also placed 3rd with Karen's Jazz (standard poodle) in the Scarlet's Challenge. We are going farther next time... heading for Columbia, SC in May/June for the Caroline Classic. See you there! All American Grooming Show (August 2008)
Ok.. our first time at this one and my first time in the Open Division. Boy, what a huge competition... actually, it was a record breaking year for the All American (that figures lol). I learned alot and got to take Classy for her first time. She was great until they started clapping. Will have to work on that with her. I didn't win anything but did learn alot and got to meet Jonathan (Groomer Has It). Very nice person. We'll be heading to Las Vegas next....
SuperZoo - Las Vegas (September 2008)
My first time at this show. I had alot of fun.... learned a few things here also and met with Jerry from OK Shear company and will be heading to her place for some lessons on a few things within the next couple of weeks (before Dallas). Didn't place, but came close. Thanks Christina for bringing me dogs to groom. :) See ya'll in Dallas...
Pet Pro Classic (October 2008)
Definitely NOT my first time here :) Well, I went to Jerry's a few weeks ago and I'm pretty positive she helped the crap out of me :) I feel a little odd going into the ring now with ONLY my scissors.. not cheater combs LOL. After the fact, I'm SOO glad she taught me to do the clips without combs. I love the clip so much better now... plus the other tips/tricks I learned. I didn't place in the poodles this time but boy is it close... I can just feel it :) BUT...!!! I DID place in Open Division with Jasmine... my clippered Miniature Schnauzer (in Terriers). I got SECOND place! Then went on to place second in GROUP!!!! How awesome/exciting is THAT???? I'm so proud of me. I'm sure alot of you know.. or maybe don't.. but I've only been grooming dogs for 5 years.. that's from the time I bought my shop and self taught myself (8-3-03) til now. I think that's awesome :) I'm very proud of myself for this accomplishment even if not one single other person is (I know that's not true though lol). Thanks everyone for there support in all that I do.
